Prerequisites
- A bootable Linux Live CD, DVD or USB. Kali is recommendable but any Linux will work.
- Basic understanding of Windows file structure. i.e. can navigate.
Run Linux Live in PC
First of all, insert Linux Live CD, DVD or USB and run it. You may need to go BIOS settings to change Boot-up options according to your needs. You don’t need to Install Linux in your system. Just click on Try.
Renaming files
#1: After fully loading Linux, use file explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\System32
#2: Find cmd.exe in the System32 folder and rename it to cmd0.exe
#3: Now, find sethc.exe in System32 folder and rename it to cmd.exe
#4: Finally, rename cmd0.exe to sethc.exe
We basically interchange Sticky Keys to Command Prompt so that when ever we call Sticky Keys functionality in Windows, Command Prompt will launch.
Hack Windows Login Password
#1: Shut down Linux and start Windows.
#2: When login screen comes and press Shift Key 5-6 times.
#3: As we changed Sticky Keys with Command Prompt, so Command Prompt will be appeared.
#4: Now, put the following below command in Command Prompt.
net user
#5: Now you can see the list of active accounts.
#6: Again, type the following command and hit enter
net user ACCOUNT NAME *
Change ACCOUNT NAME in above command with the account that is in list of Command Prompt.
#7: It will ask for password. Enter New Password and then type again for confirmation. You can also leave it blank to remove password.
Revert Renaming
Make sure, that you don’t forget to revert renaming cmd.exe to sethc.exe again and sethc.exe to cmd.exe.
